This is the simplest cookie dough to make and seems to hold its shape really well for decorated cookies. 175g unsalted butter, softened 200g caster sugar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 375g plain flour, sifted 1 egg 1 egg yolk Beat butter, sugar and vanilla extract together with an electric beater till pale and fluffy.
