I have to pinch myself that another one of my kiddies is off to ‘big school’. So what better excuse to throw a School Days party?
Cue that talented Godmother Alanna the Planner and we were set to go. The roll was taken on the trusty chalk board (the header was a fab $2 store find) then we started school with the best part of every kids’ school day – lunch time!
Place names were written on Itty Bitty Notebook bags, attached to pencils and stuck in apples for extra cuteness. Everyone had their own kraft lunch box filled with all the usual school lunch goodies like marmite and cheese sammie’s, raisins, mini muesli bars and fruit sticks along with a milk carton complete with red stripey paper straws. Possibly the healthiest kids’ party food I’ve done to date!! Couldn’t get away without the usual party treats altogether though so we also had mini apple cookies with red 100’s & 1000’s and vanilla cupcakes in red swirl cases and of course apple cupcake toppers, I’ve been dying to use those, I love them.
The ‘book’ cake was stacked on a pile of books and came complete with a bookworm and matching red spotty candles.
When recess was over it was time for the class to knuckle down. Old-school favourites like Memory Game and Hangman were so much fun the students didn’t realise they were learning.
After all their hard work our clever pupils were sent home with their own little school supplies pack in our houndstooth treat bags.
Happy Birthday my big school kid! x
